Athan ("we", "our", or "the app") is an Islamic prayer times application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

Location Data: The app requests access to your device's location to calculate accurate prayer times and determine the Qibla (direction of Mecca). Your coordinates are processed entirely on your device and are not sent to any external server.

Device Sensors: On supported devices, the app uses the magnetometer (compass) to display the Qibla direction. Sensor data is used locally and is never transmitted.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

The app stores the following data locally on your device using on-device storage. This data never leaves your device:

Cached location coordinates and city/country name
Prayer time calculation method preference
Notification toggle settings
Ramadan fasting tracker progress
Tasbih (dhikr) counter totals and target preference
Quran bookmarks and last-read position
Daily reminder schedule preferences
Premium purchase status

3. In-App Purchases

The app offers a one-time premium purchase through Apple's App Store. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through their platform. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information.

Purchase validation is handled directly through Apple's StoreKit. No third-party payment services are involved. Your purchase status is verified locally on your device.

4. Third-Party Services

The app connects to the following external services:

Al-Quran Cloud API (alquran.cloud) — to fetch Quran text (Arabic, English translation, and transliteration). No personal data is sent with these requests.
Islamic Network CDN (cdn.islamic.network) — to stream Quran audio recitation for premium users. No personal data is sent.

5. Data We Do NOT Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not do:

We do not collect personal information (name, email, phone number)
We do not create user accounts or require registration
We do not track your activity or usage patterns
We do not use analytics or tracking services
We do not display advertisements
We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties
We do not store any data on our servers

6. Notifications

If you enable notifications, the app may send local notifications for prayer times and daily reminders. These are scheduled entirely on your device. No notification data is sent to external servers.

7. Children's Privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The app is suitable for users of all ages.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
